Joslin LeascaJoslin B. Leasca completed the Family Nurse Practitioner program at the University of Rhode Island in 1999 and received her D.N.P. at the University of Rhode Island in May 2012.

Dr. Leasca is an assistant Clinical Professor in the College of Health Professions, Sacred Heart University. Dr. Leasca has taught nursing at all levels including medical surgical nursing, nursing theories and concepts, professional nursing, pathophysiology, advanced pharmacotherapy, and ethics, among other courses.

Dr. Leasca is a Family Nurse Practitioner practicing telemedicine for medically underserved adolescents and elderly in remote areas. Dr. Leasca’s dissertation efforts in her clinical setting earned the clinic the elite designation of a Patient Centered Medical Home.

Dr. Leasca has also worked as a regulator on the Rhode Island Board of Nurse Registration and Education, serving as the Advanced Practice expert and President. Recent accomplishments include first authorship of the Consensus Model in the Rhode Island General Assembly which was signed into law by Rhode Island’s Governor, May 2013. Dr. Leasca's dissertation efforts in her clinical setting earned the clinic the elite designation of a Patient Centered Medical Home where she continues to conduct research into the effect of improved processes on patient outcomes.

Leasca is the inaugural graduate of the University of Rhode Island’s DNP program and has a number of publications and presentations regarding advanced practice nursing scope of practice, advanced practice nursing regulation, and the meaningful use of electronic technology in health care. Current research interests include authenticity in communication in on-line educational programs.
