Rebecca Witten GrizzleDr. Rebecca Grizzle is a registered nurse (RN) who graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree in 1997. She is an adult nurse practitioner, completing a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) in Adult Health Primary Care in 2003 from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). She also earned a PhD degree in Occupational Health Nursing from UAB in 2009. Dr. Grizzle was awarded a graduate fellowship from the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) from 2001 to 2009.

For the past four years, she practiced as a nurse practitioner in perianesthesia clinics in the University of Utah Huntsman Cancer Hospital and VCU Medical Center. She is board certified as an adult nurse practitioner from the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Her nursing experience includes medical-surgical, cardiology, transplant, perioperative, occupational health, surgical oncology and preventive care. Her clinical areas of interest are improving evidence-based practice (EBP) in perioperative anticoagulation management and weighing the needs of patients with severe valvular disease requiring major cancer resection.

Dr. Grizzle taught in various on ground and online undergraduate, RN to BSN, and graduate nursing programs, such as at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte, University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and VCU. Her previous area of research was in emergency preparedness among vulnerable populations. She is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Online MSN program at Sacred Heart University where she teaches research and evidence-based practice and advises Clinical Nurse Leader students.
