RN–BSN–MSN Online

A Master of Science in Nursing can give you more opportunities to move into higher-level positions and jobs with more personal fulfillment. If you are a registered nurse with a diploma or an associate's degree in Nursing, Sacred Heart's online RN–BSN–MSN program can put you on an accelerated path to earning that master's degree.

Take the Leap From RN–BSN–MSN

By combining your BSN and MSN studies in SHU's online RN–BSN–MSN program, you'll save time and money that you'd spend earning both separately. In our program, you only have to take eight MSN classes instead of 12, allowing you to get your master's degree sooner. And your BSN is awarded along the way, so if circumstances prevent your completion of the program, you'll still have a chance to earn a higher degree.

Give Yourself More Opportunities

In today's complex health care field, many executive and leadership positions in nursing require applicants to have the skills that come with an advanced degree. Sacred Heart University's online RN–BSN–MSN program is designed to meet the needs of the working career nurse seeking the superior clinical, administrative, and educational skills to move into management roles or positions with more autonomy.

Sacred Heart's online RN–BSN–MSN program offers three specializations to choose from based on your career interests:

  • Clinical Nurse Leader: (300 hours of role immersion) This specialization prepares you with the skills and knowledge needed to fulfill this new and evolving role, designed to address complex challenges involving patient safety, quality of care, and costs. The program prepares students to sit for the American Association of Colleges of Nursing CNL Certificate Exam, but even those students who are not interested in the CNL position can benefit from the integrated knowledge offered in this specialization.
  • Patient Care Services Administration: (120 hours of clinical practicum) This specialization prepares you for nursing leadership positions on the administrative side. You'll learn how to use administrative tools and skills to provide and ensure effective and efficient care.
  • Nursing Education: (120 hours of clinical practicum) This specialization is designed to complement your clinical expertise with skills in teaching and learning strategies. The curriculum is designed to provide you with an understanding of issues in nursing education, application of curriculum design and evaluation theory, and experience in the role of the instructor.
