Sacred Heart’s MHA Program Helped Earl Rimbey to Lead with Confidence

 |  4 Min Read

Earl Rimbey was already a successful clinical exercise physiologist when he decided he wanted to take his career even further. His decision led him to enroll in the Online Master of Health Administration (MHA) Program with Sacred Heart University, and it turned out to be the best choice for his goals.

His main goal is to step into administration so that he can have a bigger impact on policy change and influence population health through progressive, productive practices. The online MHA program gave him the tools he needed to rise in his field and help bring about that change, such as learning how to analyze data and applying that to lobbying.

“There were some valuable skills that I learned in my classes that I started applying right away and things I bookmarked for later use as I make strides in my career.”

One course that stood out for Earl was the Negotiation and Conflict Resolution course. This class offered a lot of relevant information and taught him useful skills that he applies in his current role.

“There were some valuable skills that I learned in my classes that I started applying right away and things I bookmarked for later use as I make strides in my career.”

“Conflict for a lot of us, including myself, can be kind of daunting. There were a lot of skills that I took away from this class that I apply to my work in problem solving and negotiating with policy changes that occur in my department so that we all come out as winners.”

Earl received his MHA in 2024, and the knowledge and confidence he gained from the program since graduating helped him find his voice.

“They say that knowledge is power. And as you gain more knowledge, you gain more power. But it’s also about how you use it and if you can use it. The courses helped me gain some confidence in myself as far as my own abilities are concerned and helped me learn new ones. I feel like my confidence has improved a lot and I am more vocal in my current role now.”

Earl credits the top-class faculty at SHU for helping him along his path. “All the faculty were great. My advisor was always available and helpful to me and fellow students. I definitely feel empowered and prepared to tackle that next step.”
